The Best Drugstore Highlighters Under $10 ♥️

Finding cheap highlighters can be a struggle, especially when you don’t know if the highlighters will work out for you. Here are few highlighters from the drugstore that will not disappoint you nor will they hurt your bank account. For those of you who love blinding highlighters on a budget, you will love the following: the elf highlighters in the shades blush gems and moonlight pearls, the NYX eyeshadow in the shade girl talk, the essence eyeshadow in the shade the grammy goes glammy, the maybelline master chrome highlighter in the shade molten gold or fondu, and the lovely wet 'n' wild highlighters in the shades crown of my canopy and precious petals.

**Tip: you can use any eyeshadows as highlighters! They work just as well as any highlighters!**

Unfortunately, these highlighters are not super friendly if you have acne or textured skin. They will most likely emphasize all the little bumps that you may have on your face. If you're in such a position, the essence pure nude highlighter is the one for you. it gives you a wet look without being super blinding. Another option best for more textured skin is the physicians formula highlighter in the shade natural nude. Both of these highlighters will compliment all skin tones, with the exception of extremely fair skin tones when it comes to the essence pure nude highlighter.

Additionally, not all highlighters will work for every skin tone. Here is what we think works best with the previously mentioned highlighters:

Fair skin tones: Essence's the grammy goes glammy & NYX's girl talk.
Medium/Tan skin tones: Wet 'n' Wild's crown of my canopy and precious petals and Elf's blush gems and moonlight pearls, Essence's pure nude highlighter & Physicians Formula natural nude, Maybelline master chrome metallic highlighter molten gold or fondu.
Deep skin tones: Wet 'n' Wild's crown of my canopy.

In terms of the formula and application of each of the highlighters, here is what we noticed:

Wet 'n' wild
: Both of the shades have similar formulas; they are smooth and buttery. These will give you a more intense highlight and look shimmery but not chunky.

Elf: These highlighters are more rough when you try to swatch and they are not the easiest to work with for application but they will give you a very highlighted look.

Essence: The pure nude highlighter gives you more of a natural glow compared to the other highlighters mentioned and is soft to the touch. The eyeshadow in the shade grammy goes glammy is very pigmented and will give a more intense highlighted look.

Physicians Formula: This can give you various shades of highlight to work with depending on where you go in with your brush and has a smooth formula. We realize that this highlighter is over $10 but you can always buy it when it is on sale.

Maybelline: This highlighter is perfect for the summer time! It is super gold and soft to the touch and if you want to make it even more blinding, then we suggest you apply something like fix plus or any other setting spray on your face first, let it dry half way through, and then finally apply the highlighter on top for a super intense blinding look!

NYX: The eyeshadow in the shade girl talk is very pigmented and smooth. It will give you an intense, or blinding, effect when you apply it.

  2. I am a highlighter junkie. I love highlighters and that glow! I absolutely am in love with maybelline highlighter and the wet n wild highlighters! I didn't know that drugstore highlighters can be this amazing! I just did make up lesson by Lina Cameron so I try to practice a lot to improve my skill. They also came out with a rose gold one a few weeks ago, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
